Mags Welcomes You to The Gals Get Zen

On a regular Wednesday afternoon this February, Hollie and I left the office together for lunch. She had an exciting, mysterious new plan for us. The idea: we try different self-help, wellness, spiritual, beauty and other betterment techniques, then talk about them together on a weekly podcast. I was…so in! We immediately started writing down ideas and making plans, and we haven’t looked back.

Hollie and I work together in advertising. We’ve both worked hard to get where we are. We got our degrees and started from the bottom. We took on more responsibility and earned promotions. And now, we really do have our dream jobs. But the truth is, we are both looking for something…more. We even considered naming this podcast, “Is this all there is?”

One of the best things we have in common is our curiosity. Curiosity is a quality I’m proud of. I think it keeps you young, and Oprah says we should always stay curious. But my problem with curiosity is I don’t know what to do with all of it.

Not-so-great things Hollie and I have in common are crippling anxiety and self-doubt. My curiosity makes me to want to try too many things, start too many projects, and have too many grand ideas. But my self-doubt about failure and anxiety over feeling uncomfortable keeps me from seeing anything to fruition.

And that’s what this podcast is for.

This is our opportunity to take a deep dive into ourselves, step outside our comfort zones, try new things, and see if it makes us better in the end. And the best part is we have each other—and all of you—to hold us accountable.

We want to know:

  • What do I need to feel fulfilled?
  • How can I be happier?
  • What is my life’s purpose?
  • How can I live my best life?

If this sounds at all like something you can relate to, please join us on our adventure. Share in our trials and triumphs. And then, tell us what you think. We want your suggestions, your insight and your experience.

Final Note

To my gal pal, Hollie: I am so grateful that that you chose to share the process with me. I am lucky to have you as a friend, and I’m excited beyond belief to take on this project with you.  Thank you so much, Pookie.
